Organisers of the annual Government College Ughelli (GCU) Relays have called for entries for the eighth edition scheduled for November 14th, 2026, following the resumption of secondary schools nationwide. The event primarily targets schools by invitation, but organisers stated that others showing sufficient interest may be considered. Past editions have seen participation from schools such as Novena University Staff School, Kwale, and Yewa College, Ilaro, with Yewa College's Sunday Akintan setting a 100m record in the second edition that remains unbroken. Early preparations for the 8th edition have commenced, including the reconstitution of sub-committees.
