The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has said that in its bid to deliver tomorrow's infrastructure, women engineers must adapt to systems that work for everyone, not just a privileged few. Engr. Chinyere Nnnenna Igwegbe, the APWEN President, stated this at the opening of the 2026 International Conference, Exhibition & AGM with the theme 'Designing Adaptive Systems: Engineering Energy, Building Net-Zero, Delivering Tomorrow's Infrastructure'. She said the conference is a space to share research, argue points, learn from one another, and celebrate innovations coming from APWEN members. Igwegbe noted that the way cities are built and the environment is cared for is shifting, and women engineers are not just watching the change happen but are actively building the solutions.
