Fire renders Kogi teacher, 7 children homeless

A teacher, Aisha Kende Dailla, and her seven children have been rendered homeless after a fire destroyed their three-bedroom apartment in Lokoja, Kogi State capital. The fire, which occurred few days ago, razed the family's home at First 200 Units, along Mallam Hassan Road, near Wada Footballers Camp. Dailla, an indigene of Lokoja LGA, said the fire started shortly after electricity was restored to the area following a three-day blackout, and was caused by a high-voltage surge when power was restored. She said she lost everything she had worked for over the years, including vital documents, educational certificates and personal effects, and that the family has been struggling to survive since the incident with no shelter, food or basic necessities.
