Lithuanian Muslim community poses no security threat – Prime Minister

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said he had no information indicating that members of the country's Muslim community posed a threat to national security. His comments came as a parliamentary committee prepared to examine the activities of a Muslim religious organisation. The Seimas Committee on National Security and Defence was due to hold a closed session on the Council of Lithuanian Muslim Religious Communities, also known as the second muftiate, including alleged links with other Islamist organisations. The issue was raised by conservative lawmaker Dalia Asanavičiūtė-Gružauskienė.
