Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force, has called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene in the abandoned Ivo River Dam Project in Enugu. This follows devastating flooding affecting communities in Aninri and other Local Government Areas. Ngwu also urged intervention in the long-neglected Mgbowo Dam and Water Scheme in Awgu LGA. He emphasized that the recurring flooding highlights the need to complete and rehabilitate the Ivo River Dam, conceived as a multipurpose infrastructure for water supply, irrigation, fishery, and electricity generation, to prevent it from remaining an abandoned project that endangers surrounding communities.
