Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged editors and journalists to strengthen professional standards, fact-checking, and verification mechanisms to detect and counter AI-generated disinformation before, during, and after elections. He made the call at an editors' conference where the media and the 2027 polls were discussed. The conference also featured INEC chairman, governors, and other stakeholders who examined the role of the media in the electoral process.
