Iran has presented the United States with a seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Araghchi said the proposal was delivered through intermediaries and that if certain conditions are met, the strait would be open at the end of the seventh day and talks would restart. He declined to elaborate on the conditions but said they were nothing more than what the two countries agreed to in June. A White House official described the discussions through mediators as positive and constructive, and representatives of the U.S. and Iran held talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, the first such negotiations in months.
