The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been rolling out enhanced 3D X-ray scanners for about a decade, with a significant deployment starting in 2022. These scanners are designed to improve security screening and speed up lines by allowing passengers to leave items like laptops and toiletries in their bags. However, the opening of the new machines is approximately half an inch smaller than that of the previous machines. Despite concerns that carry-on bags may no longer fit, reports indicate that standard carry-on bags will still be accommodated.
