The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) in Borno State has denied social media reports claiming that an altercation erupted between Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele and the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) during a meeting over alleged unpaid Consolidated Non-Tertiary Academic Allowance (CONTAA) entitlements. In a press statement signed by the varsity's Public Relations Officer, Amina Abdullahi, on Friday, the management described the report as highly malicious, baseless, and entirely fabricated. The statement said the defamatory post falsely claimed there was a clash and exchange of words between the Vice-Chancellor and the SSANU Chairman.
