South Sudan has commenced national consultations on drafting a constitution for the East African Community (EAC) Political Confederation. The consultations, launched in Juba on 24 September 2026, will run until 7 October 2026, aiming to gather citizens' views on the proposed confederation. The Political Confederation is a transitional model toward an ultimate Political Federation of the EAC. A team of constitutional experts coordinated by South Sudan's Ministry of EAC Affairs is conducting the consultations.
