Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed, Acting Director of Humanitarian and Social Affairs at the ECOWAS Commission, highlighted the deprivation of children's rights in Africa. Speaking at a regional evaluation and strategic planning meeting in Abuja, he noted that millions of children are deprived of education, health, protection, and participation due to poverty, gender, ethnicity, nationality, lack of documentation, or geographical origin. He emphasized the new ECOWAS Child Policy and its Strategic Action Plan (2019–2030). The meeting aimed to evaluate the implementation of the policy by member states.
