The Chairperson of the African Union Commission met with the Foreign Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe, Dr. Ilza Maria dos Santos Amado Vaz, on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. They discussed climate change and the upcoming parliamentary elections in São Tomé. The Foreign Minister noted that insular island states are particularly vulnerable to rising sea levels. The Chairperson committed the African Union Commission's full support to help São Tomé overcome its unique challenges.
