Nigeria's Super Eagles defeated Madagascar 2-1 in their opening Group L match of the AFCON 2027 qualifying series at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. Debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor scored to complete a comeback after Nigeria conceded an early goal from a corner kick. Coach Eric Chelle included Stanley Nwabali and Ola Aina in the starting XI, and Nigeria controlled 60% of possession. The win maintained Nigeria's unbeaten record against Madagascar in AFCON qualifiers.
