Onah: Carnival Calabar Needs More Private Funding

The Chairman of the Cross River State Carnival Commission for Carnival Calabar, Gabe Onah, has said more private sector funding is needed for the 2026 edition of Africa's biggest street party. Onah, who disclosed this in Lagos, said funding is also needed from the public sector and individuals. He stated that the state government is working hard to reintroduce the international segment of Carnival Calabar. Onah noted that four successive governors of the state, including incumbent Governor Bassey Otu, have supported the festival, and stressed the need for collaboration with the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy.
