Stakeholders in Nigeria's justice sector have initiated a process to strengthen legislation on the protection of children's welfare and rights. The stakeholders, including policymakers, legislators, judges, law enforcement agencies, and civil society representatives, called for appropriate and implementable legislation to enhance the development and prosperity of the Nigerian child. They spoke at the opening of a three-day National Stakeholders' Engagement on the Review and Amendment of the Child Rights Act (CRA) 2023, organised by the Federal Ministry of Justice in collaboration with UNICEF and International IDEA. The review comes 23 years after the CRA was first enacted in the country.
