Road networks across Nigeria are vital for movement of goods and people, but their deteriorating state has become a nightmare, wasting man-hours. Many roads constructed over 30 years ago have seen several rehabilitation and reconstruction contracts but remain in bad condition despite budgetary allocations. The Federal Ministry of Works reported that the federal government is working on an estimated 5,400 kilometres of highways and strategic road corridors. Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed a review of all road projects to prioritize them, and there is a need for alternative funding sources outside government coffers.
