The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has criticized the Federal Government for omitting any mention of Palestine in Nigeria's national statement at the 81st United Nations General Assembly. MPAC noted that Nigeria had addressed the Gaza situation at the previous UNGA but failed to reference Palestine, its people, or a two-state solution in its 2026 statement. The group highlighted that the 24-paragraph statement covered UN Security Council reform, climate finance, artificial intelligence, global debt architecture, and counter-terrorism in the Sahel, but made no mention of Palestine. According to MPAC, this represents a departure from Nigeria's UNGA 80 position, where it condemned violence against civilians in Gaza and reaffirmed support for a two-state solution.
