Declare Anambra ecological disaster zone — Umeh

Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, called on the Federal Government to declare the district an erosion and ecological disaster zone. The call followed loss of lives, property destruction, and submerging of houses by flooding and gully erosion in parts of the state. Umeh visited the family of a six-year-old boy who died when a school bus became trapped in floodwater, as well as families affected by severe erosion in Awka. He said he would amend an earlier motion on the issue.
