The Defence Headquarters has announced that troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria rescued more than 60 kidnapped victims and arrested 44 suspects in operations nationwide. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, disclosed this during a briefing on operations conducted between September 18 and 24. The operations targeted terrorism, kidnapping, arms trafficking, oil theft and other security threats. A Nigerian Air Force jet disrupted the movement of terrorists transporting kidnapped victims in Bazama, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi, forcing them to abandon their captives. Ground troops also rescued victims in separate operations across Katsina, Sokoto and other areas.
