The Anambra State government has stated that governance should focus on citizens' welfare rather than accumulating savings. It accused former governor Peter Obi of concealing debts in his handover notes and claims he left $123.77 million in debt. The government said loans were obtained for projects in malaria control, education, healthcare, erosion management, community development, and value chain development. Obi has denied the claims, saying he left over $150 million in the treasury and investments.
