The World Economic Forum's 2026 Travel & Tourism Development Index shows that 92% of the 110 economies assessed improved their scores since 2024, marking the strongest conditions since 2019. Japan ranks first overall, with advanced economies taking nine of the top 10 positions. Emerging tourism economies have improved their scores more than twice as fast as the top 20 since 2019. The index will be launched at Beyond Tourism Day in Geneva under the theme 'Resilient Growth. Renewed Impact', bringing together leaders from business, government, and civil society.
