At least five miners were shot dead and two others injured when gunmen attacked a mining site in Marit village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday. The attack occurred around 1pm amid high tension in parts of the state. Spokesman of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident and condemned the attack, calling on security agencies to protect communities and prevent further attacks. A member of the community, Simon Mundat, also confirmed the incident and described the loss of lives as devastating.
