Dog owners are increasingly giving peptides to their pets, an unproven treatment popular among fitness enthusiasts. Proponents believe peptides can help dogs heal from injuries and live longer, but there is no clear evidence that peptides are safe or effective for dogs, and no agreed-upon dosage. Ryan Samluk, a project manager in Dallas, turned to peptides for his 11-year-old Australian-German Shepherd mix, Finley, after a sprain, as he could not afford costly veterinary diagnostics and arthritis shots. He spent about $160 on a month's supply.
