Babachir Lawal has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), marking his sixth political party since 2002. He left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in June after alleging that its presidential primary was rigged in favor of Atiku Abubakar, a claim the party denied. In the NDC, he aligns with Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party's 2027 presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Previously, Lawal was in the Labour Party during the 2023 election cycle, campaigning for Obi.
