The governor had been instrumental in the monarch's selection process, and initial interactions appeared cordial. However, tensions emerged after Makinde announced a rotational chairmanship among three traditional rulers, with Oba Rashidi Ladoja as pioneer chairman, a move the Alaafin's palace disputed.
