The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been called upon to thoroughly scrutinize the collation and returning officers it will recruit for the 2027 elections. This follows reports that over 600 senior academics from public universities in the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term. Political analysts believe such endorsements could compromise the neutrality of lecturers who are hired by INEC to conduct elections. The call aims to ensure a free, fair, and credible 2027 presidential poll.
