Kano State has ranked first in the 2026 National Examination Council of Nigeria (NECO) results, with 74,413 candidates obtaining at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics. Lagos State placed second with 72,496 candidates, while Oyo State came third with 55,543 candidates. This marks the second consecutive year Kano has topped the NECO national performance chart, following a similar feat in 2025. Governor Abba Yusuf commended students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders, describing the back-to-back performance as evidence that sustained investment in education is yielding measurable results.
