Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), returned to Nigeria from the United States on Sunday to resume his 2027 presidential campaign. In a statement, Sowore expressed excitement about returning to his family and country after more than 20 months away. He said he left Nigeria due to arrests, detention, travel restrictions, and the seizure of his international passport by Nigerian security agencies. While in the U.S., he engaged with Nigerians in the diaspora, supporters, activists, and other stakeholders, and participated in a solidarity march for Palestine in New York.
