The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) arrested 14 individuals for alleged waste-related offences during enforcement operations on Lagos Island and along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The operations targeted illegal waste disposal, including dumping into the lagoon, and resulted in the seizure of numerous carts from suspected illegal waste collectors. The Managing Director of LAWMA, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, stated that the suspects were apprehended at the weekend in areas such as Idumota, Oke-Popo, Tom Jones, and Tinubu. The arrests are part of efforts to enforce compliance with waste management regulations and curb activities undermining orderly waste collection and disposal.
