Oyebanji dissolves boards, sacks political appointees

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions, and parastatals in the state and terminated the appointments of all political appointees. Those affected include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, and Technical Assistants. The decision was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor's Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode. According to the statement, the decision became necessary as the governor's first term gradually winds down ahead of the inauguration of his second term scheduled for October 16, 2026. Chairmen and members of statutory boards, including the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission, and Judicial Service Commission, are exempted, as are the governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions.
