The Netherlands secured a 2-1 victory over Serbia in Belgrade on Sunday in the Nations League, giving coach Xavi Hernandez his first win in charge. Mexx Meerdink scored twice for the Dutch, who had drawn 1-1 with Germany in Xavi's debut match on Thursday. The win moves the Netherlands to four points from two games in Group A2. Serbia missed a chance to take the lead in the 17th minute when Dejan Joveljic shot straight at goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, and Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo later went off injured for the Dutch.
