The Zamfara State Government has renovated 61 healthcare facilities and provided solar power to 50 primary healthcare centres (PHCs) as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state. The interventions by the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal also include the provision of solar-powered boreholes and toilets in 29 healthcare centres, recruitment of health workers, expansion of immunisation services and strengthening of referral facilities. The state government said 51 PHCs and 10 general hospitals had been renovated, while another 51 PHCs received support through the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA). The solar power installations at 50 PHCs are aimed at improving electricity supply, extending operating hours and enhancing vaccine storage and availability. As part of its 2026 health programme, the government also approved the renovation, expansion and upgrading of 14 additional PHCs, one in each of the state’s 14 local government areas.
