He spoke at the grand finale of the Ulefunta Cultural Festival in Akure, where he urged communities to safeguard their indigenous traditions and transmit them to younger generations. Olawande described cultural heritage as a priceless national asset and lamented that aspects of Nigeria's heritage had been neglected. He called for renewed efforts to promote indigenous cultures, particularly among the Yoruba and the people of Akure.
