Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has supported organised labour's demand for a substantial increase in the minimum wage. He accused President Bola Tinubu of presiding over an economic squeeze where workers are paid more on paper but live on less. In a statement by the Director of Strategic Communications of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticised the removal of the petrol subsidy, saying it sent prices soaring before any credible protection was in place for working families. He said fuel, transport, food, and rent have devoured workers' wages.
