A 42-year-old man, Ayei Ekpe Ibor, was allegedly stabbed to death by Ebino Mbang Ikpi in Kekoti, Ajere, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State. The incident reportedly followed a heated argument on Sunday morning over the sharing of a N500 gift. The Cross River State Police Command confirmed the incident and said efforts were launched to arrest the suspect and recover the deceased's remains for medical examination. Police Public Relations Officer ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata said Ikpi was later arrested at his hideout in the Ajere-Ekori area and taken to the Yakurr Division for detention and further investigation. Shortly after the arrest, some sympathisers and other persons reportedly mobilised and attacked the Ekori Police Division, believing the suspect was being detained there.
