Residents of Yabo and Shagari local government areas of Sokoto State are set to regain electricity after more than three years of blackout caused by the vandalisation of power infrastructure. The restoration project, sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Yabo-Shagari Federal Constituency, Prof. Garba Musa Maitafsir, was flagged off at a ceremony attended by political leaders, community representatives and other stakeholders at the weekend. Maitafsir said he had signed an agreement with the contracting company, Sanjay Engineering, to complete the project within 30 days. He said he had deposited N150 million for the commencement of the work and was prepared to provide additional funds if required.
