The Central Bank of Nigeria has called on traders and residents in Kano State to handle the naira with care, stating that improper handling raises the cost of replacing soiled and mutilated notes. The apex bank made the appeal during a sensitisation campaign in major markets across Kano, including Galadima Market. Ibrahim Yahya of the CBN Currency and Operations Department said the naira is a symbol of Nigeria's sovereignty and national pride. He added that the CBN and the Federal Government spend substantial resources replacing notes damaged by poor handling.
