The United States government stated on Monday that it has no plans to sell arms to China. This followed remarks by US Ambassador to China David Perdue, who said President Donald Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping if China would like to purchase American weapons. According to Perdue, the offer was made during Xi's state visit to the White House last week and was in response to Chinese concerns over US weapons sales to Taiwan. The White House clarified that no such sales to China are currently in the pipeline.
