Eighteen business owners who lost their livelihoods in the recent SPAR fire disaster in Calabar, Cross River State, have each received a ₦25 million relief cheque. The cheques were presented on Monday by Governor Senator Bassey Otu at the Executive Chambers of the Governor's Office in Calabar. Otu said the intervention followed the visit of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu to the state on September 1, 2026, for the launch of the South-South zone of the National Community Food Bank Programme. He described the financial assistance as support for the affected business owners to rebuild their enterprises and restore their livelihoods, adding that his administration would continue to support small and medium-sized businesses.
