The Okwu-Kanu Family has called for the hearing of the appeal of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and questioned the legal basis of his conviction and sentence by the Federal High Court. Prince Emmanuel Kanu, speaking on behalf of the family, urged the National Judicial Council (NJC) to examine the conduct of Justice James Omotosho in relation to the trial. The family argued that the conviction was entered under repealed terrorism legislation and cited Sections 97 and other provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022.
