Renewed fighting in northern Ethiopia as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams scale up medical response to increase in war-wounded

Renewed fighting has erupted in northern Ethiopia between the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and allies, and the Ethiopian National Defence Forces, shattering a fragile 2022 peace agreement. Since 22 September, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams have scaled up activities to respond to an increase in war-wounded patients. Between 22 and 25 September, the number of war-wounded patients in Korem and Alamata hospitals rose from around 180 to more than 420, while over 300 arrived at Suhul hospital in Shire.
