Uganda's Internal Affairs Minister, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, has commended Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth for his service as a State Attorney and for leading a reputable 12th Parliament. Kamuntu made the remarks on Saturday, 26 September 2026, during celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Mushanga Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese of Mbarara. Oboth, who was chief guest representing Vice President H.E. Jessica Alupo, previously worked as a State Attorney before entering elective politics. Kamuntu noted that he had known Oboth for a long time, having worked with him when Oboth chaired Parliament's Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and Kamuntu served as Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. The occasion also included the ordination of two priests, Rev. Fr. Marius Akoromwiguru and Rev. Fr. Felix Twinomugisha.
