Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration for seeking a fresh $1.5 billion loan from the World Bank while public debt stands at ₦166.79 trillion. Atiku, through a statement by Phrank Shaibu of the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council, said Tinubu must first account for previously borrowed funds. He described Tinubu's economic record as an indictment of his stewardship, noting that families are struggling to afford food, fuel, and electricity while debt continues to rise. Atiku questioned where the promised development from painful policies is, given the ongoing hardship.
