Donald Trump has denied asking Xi Jinping if he would like to buy American weapons, after US ambassador to Beijing David Purdue said the US president made the offer to his Chinese counterpart. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he had never heard of the offer and that they did not discuss it. He added that China would probably like to buy US weapons because they make better equipment, but reiterated that no such discussion took place.
