Aliko Dangote's refining operations will require approximately 2.1 million barrels of crude oil per day to meet feedstock needs, according to Dr. Hassan Mahmood, Chief Economist of Dangote Refinery. Speaking at the 3rd Nigeria Oil Refining Summit in Lagos, Mahmood said the company's 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery in Nigeria has been scaled up to 700,000 bpd, and another refinery outside Nigeria is also being upgraded from 650,000 bpd to 700,000 bpd. The group also operates a 700,000 bpd refinery in East Africa, bringing combined capacity to about 2.1 million bpd. The disclosure came as the Crude Oil Refinery-Owners Association of Nigeria and the Independent Petroleum Producers Group demanded measures to ensure reliable crude supply.
