The Coordinator of the Niger Delta Peace Coalition, Mr Zik Gbemre, has called on the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to urgently expand the runway of Osubi Airport. In a statement issued on Monday, Gbemre said the airport's current 1.8-kilometre runway, inherited from its original design by Shell in 1999, has become a major constraint to its growth. He noted that the facility has outgrown its original purpose as a private airstrip and now serves as a major commercial gateway for Warri, Effurun and other communities across the Niger Delta. According to him, the airport is a vital gateway for business owners, energy workers, families and traders, and its current length is limiting Delta State's aviation and economic potential.
