A nine-hour rainfall in Makurdi, Benue State, submerged houses and left many residents stranded. The downpour, which began early Monday and lasted until evening, displaced residents in Achusa, Wadata, Wurukum, Logo, Ankpa Quarters, North Bank, and other flood-prone areas. One victim in Logo community, Iorwuese Terlumun, said he discovered at midnight that his rented apartment was flooded and managed to save only his mattress, while his books and certificates were in the water. Another victim in Wurukum, Sylvester Orya, said his compound was submerged and he woke up to find himself almost on top of water, but expressed gratitude that no life was lost.
