Optimus Bank has launched a blood donation drive in Lagos to support maternal and emergency healthcare while helping address Nigeria's persistent blood supply shortage. The initiative, organised under the bank's corporate social responsibility platform, Impact Starts With Us, and themed "GIVE BLOOD. GIVE LIFE.", brought together employees, stakeholders, and members of the community to encourage voluntary blood donation. The bank said the campaign reflects its commitment to supporting healthier and more resilient communities beyond its core financial services. According to the World Health Organisation, Nigeria requires an estimated 1.8 million to two million units of blood annually but collected only 371,827 units in 2024, with postpartum haemorrhage being a major cause of maternal deaths.
