Chimamanda Adichie and her husband, Ivara Esege, have asked the Lagos State High Court to dismiss a suit filed by Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital seeking to halt the coroner's inquest into the death of their son, Nkanu Adichie-Esege. Their counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, argued that the hospital's suit is premature because the coroner has not yet made any finding that could be nullified by the high court. Justice Aishat Opesanwo reserved October 12, 2026, to rule on the application by Eurapharma Care Services, operators of the hospital, for a judicial review of the inquest proceedings. Eurapharma is seeking orders of certiorari to quash decisions already made in connection with the inquest and prohibition to restrain the coroner.
