11-Year-Old Bodhana Sivanandan Becomes Youngest Woman Grandmaster In History

Bodhana Sivanandan, an 11-year-old British chess prodigy, has become the youngest Woman Grandmaster in history. She achieved her final norm at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where she represented England on board one and scored eight points in 11 rounds. Sivanandan, who taught herself chess during the COVID-19 lockdown, also earned her second International Master norm at the tournament. She breaks the previous record held by Kateryna Lagno, who earned the title at age 12.
